Description Cultural method for the detection of Listeria species and Listeria monocytogenes in food products.
Application End product testing, presence/absence test.
Accreditation/ regulatory AOAC approved method.
Sample type End product e.g. live shellfish, shucked/prepared shellfish, other food product.
Sample requirements Minimum sample weight is 25 grams; however the sample should be representative of the batch.  Samples must be chilled but not in direct contact with ice.
Testing Schedule Analysis carried out on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.  Samples must be at the lab by 3pm on Tuesday at the latest. Not more than 48 hours must elapse between sampling and arrival at the laboratory.
Turnaround 96 hours.
