PSP Test

Description Enzyme-Linked Immunoassay Method for the Determination of Saxitoxin (PSP) in Shellfish, using Ridascreen ® Fast PSP SC test kit.
Toxin(s) measured Saxitonin (Ridascreen antibody binding equivalents). Assay specifity: Saxitoxin (100%), dc-Saxitoxin (20%), Gonyautoxin II and III (70%), Neosaxitoxin (12%).
Application End product testing of shellfish.
Accreditation/ regulatory UKAS accredited, meets the requirements of EU regulations.
Sample type Methods available at VeroMara are suitable for all common edible shellfish species.
Sample requirements Recommended samples sizes for various shellfish species: Mussels: 50; Oysters: 6-10; Cockles: 50; Queen Scallops: 15-20; Razorfish: 6-8; Periwinkles (Littorina spp.): 80.  Samples must be delivered fresh on ice or frozen.  Ensure sample submission detailing batch numbers and testing requirements is included.
Testing schedule Normally tested on Thursdays. Testing on other days can be arranged on request and incurs a surcharge (Express samples).
Turnaround 2 working days for "Regular" samples and one working day for "Express" samples. 
Reporting Results are reported as "LOQ" when below the limit of quantification (see spec. sheet).  Results are reported by email or fax as soon as they are available.  Paper copies are forwarded by post.
